Welcome to the South East Region!
Welcome to the South East Region (SER) of the Society of Air Force Nurses (SAFN). The SER is the largest of the regions across the United States and our membership comes from four chapters in Florida (Space Coast, Tampa/St Pete, Jacksonville, Panhandle), South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, and Alabama. Florida has 58% of the SER membership (232) at 135, SC has 36, NC has 27, GA has 21 and AL has 13. Our Chapter Coordinators are your points of contact in your areas of the SER, see their links at the homepage.
Florida:
South Carolina: Donna Hudson
North Carolina: Ann Burns
Georgia: Konnie Doyle
Alabama: Kathy Wagner
Memorial Representative: Harriet Stenzel
Outreach Coordinator: Marsha Jordan
Regional Director: Charlie Tupper
The Southeast Region continues to be the largest region in SAFN, due to the great state of Florida and its beautiful weather and appreciation for military retirees. As we press forward, we hope to see similar rises in membership in other retiree-friendly states like North and South Carolina.
We are still looking for a new chapter chair for the Space Coast…please reach out if you can assist. I personally welcome Konnie Doyle as the GA Chapter Chair. Konnie and I served together at the 43 AES at Pope AFB in 2000. We always had a great time with our medics at Pope (I moved over to command 43 MDOS and Konnie was CN at the AES).
We encourage our regional members to document and photograph local get-together meet-ups and send them in for inclusion into The Rendezvous newsletter…let your friends see what you have been up to in the past six months. A great way to live our "Still Caring…Still Sharing…and Always Remembering" motto.
Salute!

Southeast Regional Meeting Update: Hotel Information
The Southeast Region hosted its 2024 Reunion in Pensacola, Florida November 10-14. While the weather didn't necessarily cooperate, the 21 members and 8 guests really enjoyed the event. We had a nice icebreaker on Sunday night and started the Reunion with an Information Update Business Meeting on Monday 0900 - 1230. Lidia Webb represented SAFN National as Secretary and gave an update. We had some great introductions and stories. We also had a demo of he updated website and Harriet Stenzel gave a Memorial Update on the members we have lost sine the 2022 Reunion in Asheville.
Tuesday took us to the Navy Aviation Museum and a great tour followed by a member's luncheon at the Museum restaurant. Members took advantage of the IMAX theater and saw some great IMAX movies on Naval Aviation and Space.
Wednesday offered up a "Hop on - Hop Off" Shuttle tour with time for the members to learn about the port city of Pensacola. Several of the critiques mentioned how much we all enjoyed Pensacola and all it has to offer. Wednesday evening brought an excellent dinner at McGuires Pub, just down the street from the hotel.
Thursday morning, members checked out and headed home. Many continued visits with family in the local area and of course, the sun started to come out!
We will be sending out a ballot so members can look at locations for the 2026 Reunion … with the option of maybe joining with another adjacent region (South Central or East Central) and maybe even pushing it a few months earlier to the April or May timeframe to avoid the SER Hurricane season.
One more time... a very special "THANKS!" to our planning group members, we would not have had the success without them:
