Welcome Charleston, South Carolina and the 2011 Society of Air Force Nurses and the World War II Flight Nurses Association Bi-annual Convention! Your hosts for the week will be the Southeastern Region SAFN and the beautiful Francis Marion Hotel in the heart of the uniquely historic downtown district. We have days filled with re-acquaintances, information updates tours, low country dining, and shopping. Those who have visited this city before leave with lasting impressions of its charm and culture.
We have deliberately placed the tour of Charleston early in the week’s activities so that you will get a general feel for places where you might spend more time. The opportunities are endless and varied – from Fort Sumter to Sullivan’s Island to South Battery to the Market, Charleston has something for everyone.
We recommend that you come prepared for the heat of typical South Carolina coastal summer, but this will be tempered by cooling sea breezes. Warmth typifies our climate and our hospitality!
So relax, mingle with old friends and make some new ones, cherish the memories of this Air Force Nurse Corps and Flight Nurse career to which you have been so dedicated, but most of all, have a great time!
Again, welcome to our Convention!
Sincerely,
Pat Brennan, President
SOCIETY OF AIR FORCE NURSES, INC.
